Cannot connect to mail server with Blackberry

Hello all,

I downloaded and installed logicmail on my blackberry but when I configured it to pull mail from my zimbra server, it returns error "cannot connect to server". Although my configuration is quite different from the conventional format. The senario is this: I have a zimbra mail server with a live IP on it but this live IP is not resolvable to any name. So when I was setting up my blackberry, I used the IP address for the mailserver and put my email address@my domain.com. when I try to connect it does not connect. but when I use my browser to connect to the server from my blackberry it does.

How do I solve the problem. what can you advice me to do since I need it badly in the office.

thanks.

popsicles.

I'm not familiar with what Zimbra offers to conventional E-Mail clients, so I can't tell you exactly how to set things up. I did a quick Google search, and found  this page, but it doesn't say very much.

Basically, you need to figure out the correct security (e.g. SSL/TLS), username, and password settings to connect to Zimbra via IMAP (account settings) and SMTP (outgoing server settings), and use those values to configure LogicMail. It really isn't any different from configuring any other local (i.e. desktop) e-mail client.

      hi,

am getting into the same problem here.

Trying to configure the imap account on imap.zoho.com, and getting the following in the log

There are no issues in connecting to the server from desktop machines.

I tried with logicamail versions 1.1.0 and 2.0.0.272(beta)

The above log is from the 1.1.0 version.

      Thanks

Okay, I can tell the following from that log:

        1. You accidentally put a space before the server name
        2. You are going over the mobile network (not WiFi)
        3. The connection could not be opened

        I suggest trying the following:

        1. Remove the space from your account configuration (this may or may not be an issue)
        2. In the BlackBerry EventLogger configuration, change the log level to "Debug Info"
        3. Inside LogicMail's configuration, enable "Connection debugging" (near the bottom of the global config screen)
        4. Restart the app, and try this again, hopefully capturing a more useful log.

I also recommend doing all of this on the latest version, but you can probably capture useful information regardless.

this is the log using the beta version. I am able to connect to the server using other mobile devices like iPhone over the same mobile network.

Okay, these log messages are just telling me again that the device can't open a network connection over the mobile network. Wherever its breaking, its not inside LogicMail's code.

Try also enabling the EventLogger items for "net.rim.networkapi" and "net.rim.tcp". These will add log messages showing you all the details (on OS 5.0+) of how its trying to open the network connection. It should make it more obvious which methods are being tried, and what is failing.

If I had to guess, the problem is either a misconfiguration of the server name/port, or a misconfiguration of the device's APN settings.

              Hello,

I have the same problem on a Bold 9000 with a regular data plan, no BIS/BES. Other software like Opera Mini is working fine. On WiFi LogicMail is working. Below is the debugging info:
